Does your booking system talk to AI agents? FareHarbor, Bókun and PADI Adventures compared

Which dive-shop booking systems can publish live availability and accept a booking from an agent — and what to do if yours can't yet.

A website can be perfectly readable and still lose the booking. The moment an assistant has recommended your shop, the next question is “is there space on Tuesday?” — and the answer has to come from wherever your availability actually lives. That is your booking system, not your website.

So the practical question for any dive center is: can my booking system tell an outside party what’s available, and can it take a reservation from one? Here is where the three systems we see most often stand.

FareHarbor

Embedding: FareHarbor’s Lightframe embeds put a working booking flow on your own pages, which is the right starting point — a human can complete the booking without leaving your site.

Availability and agent access: there is a partner API, but access is approval-gated and granted case by case. Until it’s granted, availability is visible only inside the embed, which is fine for people and opaque to machines.

Verdict: excellent for humans today; agent access depends on FareHarbor’s approval, which Terasano requests on your behalf.

Bókun

Embedding: widgets and a checkout that can live on your site.

Availability and agent access: Bókun has an open API. Availability can be read and bookings created programmatically, which is exactly what an agent-operable transaction needs.

Verdict: the most agent-ready of the three today. If you’re choosing a system for the next five years and agent bookings matter to you, this is the one to look at.

PADI Adventures

Embedding: a widget that lists your activities on your site and on PADI’s own marketplace. No commission on bookings, plus a 4.9% service charge to the customer.

Availability and agent access: no public API at the time of writing. Availability is visible to people through the widget and the PADI marketplace; agents can’t query it directly.

Verdict: valuable for the PADI marketplace reach and the trust signal of being listed by your certifier. For live availability to reach agents, it needs a companion route.

If your system isn’t on this list, or can’t share availability yet

You are most dive centers, and it’s not a blocker. Terasano works in three tiers so that nothing has to change on day one:

  • Tier 0 — site only. Your site is readable and verifiable (layers 1 and 2). The booking still happens in your existing widget or by email. Every shop starts here.
  • Tier 1 — the email copy. Most systems send a confirmation email for every booking. Add Terasano as a blind copy and we reconstruct availability from those emails (or from a CSV export). It works with any system, needs no permission, and takes ten minutes to set up.
  • Tier 2 — direct connection. Where your system offers an API, we connect to it for live availability and, on the Performance plan, for bookings an agent can complete.

The point is not to force a system change. It’s to make sure that when an assistant asks “is there space on Tuesday?”, the answer is yes or no, rather than silence.
